Anna Pavlova (1881-1931) was one of the most important ballerinas of the 20-th century. Unlike other female ballerinas of the time she were very muscular and shapely, she was very slender and fragile-looking. She was most noted for her roll in the ballet The Dying Swan, and was the first ballerina to tour the world. The following photographs were shot by Ira L. Hill .
